Christian Life & Worldview Program

WHY CHRISTIAN LIFE & WORLDVIEW PROGRAM?

BECAUSE WE ARE

FOR THE KINGDOM

The Christian Life & Worldview program equips residential Spurgeon College Cohort students with instruction and experience in the practice of Biblical spiritual disciplines. The Christian Life & Worldview program complements Spurgeon College Cohort students’ baccalaureate education with practical formation through gatherings with their Spurgeon College Cohort. Only students who are members of a residential Spurgeon College Cohort are eligible to participate in the Christian Life & Worldview program, and every residential cohort student takes part in this unique program.

WHAT SETS US APART

A common distinction has been made between education and formation. Education is what you learn and know—things you are taught. Formation is what you practice and do. Christian Life & Worldview program equips every Spurgeon College student to make the important connection between what they know about God and how they will habitually seek Him throughout their life through biblical spiritual disciplines.

THE ELEMENTS OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE & WORLDVIEW PROGRAM

Dr. Don Whitney defines Biblical spiritual disciplines as “habits of devotion and experiential Christianity that have been practiced by the people of God since biblical times, including Bible intake, prayer, worship, evangelism, service, stewardship, fasting, silence and solitude, journaling, & learning”. Each semester, the Spurgeon College Cohorts will focus on instruction and growth in one spiritual discipline.

Every residential, degree-seeking student who is a member of a Spurgeon College Cohort will be automatically enrolled in the Christian Life & Worldview program. Only students who are members of a residential Spurgeon College Cohort may participate in the program.

Students earn one of three certificates upon graduation with their associate or bachelor’s degree:

  • Christian Life & Worldview Certificate: 12 Credits
  • Intermediate Christian Life & Worldview Certificate: 18 Credits
  • Advanced Christian Life & Worldview Certificate: 24 Credits

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

Each semester, students earn their Christian Life & Worldview credit by faithfully attending the semesterly weekender event, monthly cohort gatherings, and weekly chapels.
